Donation site at Williams Chevrolet for Benzie fire victims

Family of four lost everything in July 8 blaze. Household items in good condition and gift cards are being collected through the month of July at Williams Chevrolet showroom in Traverse City.

Traverse City, July 10, 2012 —  Williams Chevrolet in Traverse City is a donation site for a Benzie family of four who lost their home in a fire July 8.

“It was one of our worst fears,” said Russell Fairfield, who made it safely out of the home, along with his girlfriend and her two children, ages 16 and 3. The family lost everything, except for one pickup truck.

Donated items will be accepted for the family through the month of July in the Williams Chevrolet showroom, 2600 U.S. 31 S in Traverse City, near the Grand Traverse Mall. Appropriate donations include household items in good or like-new condition, as well as gas, grocery, department/clothing store, restaurant and cash gift cards.

The family is being assisted by America Red Cross of Northwest Michigan. However, financial donations can be made to the Fairfield Family Benefit Fund at Member’s Credit Union, account number: 4118036, 5 is electronic digit required for electronic transactions.
